Dossier Approved

Zach and I received great news on September 30, the day after Zach’s birthday. We were contacted by our adoption agency to hear that our dossier had been approved by Colombia for 2 siblings between the ages of 0-4. This was such exciting news for us because we thought we would be getting children between 0-6. To us, 2 years makes a huge difference and we praise the Lord for this unexpected blessing.

Now we are officially on the waiting list in Colombia along with all other foreign and Colombian families. Julie told us that Summer of 2010 is a reasonable time period to expect a referral but it could happen a little sooner or later than that. We are going to check in every 3 months to see how things are progressing.

Thank you to all who have been praying for us and walking beside us through this journey. It really means a lot to us to have so much support and understanding.

On another note, you may have noticed that my blog looks different. That’s because I accidentally sabotaged it and I can’t fix it! So, this will be my last post on Grand Plans. However, I will continue the story of my children and my family on a new website called ardenlane.net. It’s not up and running yet but it will be soon. So keep checking in and join me as I stroll down Arden Lane.

Hurricane Ike hits Cincy

We thought we lived in the hurricane free midwest. We were wrong. School has been cancled for 3 days. Our brother and sister-in-law have been without power for 4 days. It’s been a whirlwind, literally.

With the help of all our neighbors we were able to clean everything up in 9 hours on Monday. Needless to say, I’m baking them all cookies!!!

We heard from our adoption agency yesterday that they are working hard to resolve their snafus with the Hague. They said not to worry, that no matter what happens, none of this should affect anyone’s process, timeline, finances, etc. It was very good news for us.

The difficulty whenever things go sour for a time is that people become very verbal about what they dislike. It’s really unfortunate because the agency is doing everything they can to fix the problems. They need to hear from the majority of us who praise God for the work they do and send them up in our prayers.

things that are hard

This may be a little personal but I believe my readers are only women and my husband.

Today I went for my yearly female doctor’s visit. I never liked going in the first place, but since Zach and I found out we couldn’t get pregnant it’s been even more difficult. When you walk in, there are 2 walls covered from ceiling to floor with pictures of all the newborn babies that these doctors have delivered. They are precious. But they are also a glaring reminder that I will never join those ranks. So, I look at them for a brief moment and try to find my two nieces (haven’t seen them yet), and then I sit with my back to the wall.

It’s just another one of those things I haven’t figured out how to deal with yet.
