Peace

It was never one of my grand plans to write about my experiences as an educator. However, I have been inspired this summer to spend time in reflection over the activity that consumes most of my days. This inspiration comes from two distinct sources-Anne Shirley, the infamous character of Anne of Green Gables, as well as many of my friends who maintain blogs both for their own sakes and for their friends and family: Jen Hubers, Phil Ewert, Laurel Stevens, Amanda Birch, and Jenny Brunsell. Where this will lead me, I am eager to discover. I hope that this online journal will be more of an encouragement to myself than to others, although I would be pleased to know that others have been inspired too.

It is still summer and yet I am gearing up for the beginning of the school year. Vacation on Prince Edward Island while reading the Anne of Green Gables series brought me peace and a sense of optimism that each new school year demands. Those who cannot find joy in the rolling hills, potato farms, red sand dunes, or wind-blown wheat truly miss a sense of the glory of God and his creation.
